My Teaching Story
It has been more than three years since I became a teacher. In different schools, there are different stories between students and I. However, there’s nothing special in these stories. There’s one thing in my understanding about teaching, that is, giving. That not only requires a teacher a large quantity of knowledge related to language itself but a teacher’s care about every student.
During the Christmas, I thought of buying something as gift for the students. At last, I just bought some pens. They were really cheap but they were my love for them. I want them to know that I care about them and this is a very good chance to get them involved in the holiday. They were all surprised when I sent the pens to them. Even, they showed them off on micro blog immediately. “That’s the gift from our teacher!!” In the following months, almost all the students in my class would bring the pen to school. And I felt very happy about that.
Also, I like spending time making something with the students. We decorated the classroom together, made cards and socks and left messages on them. Students are all creative and imaginative and some of them made some little gifts using the wasted materials for me. I was moved then.
When dealing with the students, I will never care about giving too much to them as long as they are happy in class. The only “take” that I want is their trust on me. I like chatting with them about their daily life, their puzzles during the special period in their life and help them out of the puzzles. On the contrary, I can learn something new from them. I am so grateful that I can keep young forever psychologically because of them.
Giving and taking for me, is just to build the most harmonious relationship between teachers and students. Only in this way can teachers and students make progress all the time.
